Changing theatres, existing stage sets and a new starting point every year. For the Nestroy Gala, existing theatrical worlds are adapted to meet the requirements of a TV gala without losing their own character.

EVERY YEAR.
The Nestroy Gala takes place in different theatres across Vienna. This means that every year begins with a new stage situation and the existing set of the theatre production currently running at the venue.
My task is to develop this existing world further to meet the requirements of a TV gala. Where can LED walls or projection surfaces for nominee content and video inserts be integrated? How can the existing stage design be adapted to create a functional gala stage without losing the character of the theatre and the respective production?
The Lighting Design follows the same principle. The existing lighting and stage environment is extended to meet the requirements of a television production – from TV key lighting and the camera image to the different moods required for the award ceremony and show acts. The theatrical setting also provides room for a deliberately more artistic approach to lighting.
The Visuals add another layer to the production: from the continuous Nestroy logo loop to individually developed visual worlds for specific show acts.

EXISTING STAGE
The set of the theatre production currently running at the venue provides the foundation for each year’s gala.
ADAPTATION
The existing stage is developed further to meet the requirements of both the gala and the TV production without losing its original character.
MEDIA
LED walls and projection surfaces for nominees and video inserts are integrated into the existing stage environment.
LIGHT
The Lighting Design connects the existing theatrical environment with TV key lighting, gala atmosphere and artistic show lighting.
VISUALS
Logo loops and individually developed visual worlds support both the gala and the different show acts.
CAMERA
Lighting, media surfaces and stage adaptations are developed to work precisely for the television cameras as well.
GALA
For one evening, an existing theatre production is transformed into a distinct, television-ready gala environment.
