The large-scale curved LED wall is the defining element of Universum – Die Show. Animated collages create constantly changing visual worlds that connect with real scenic elements in the studio.
The task of the lighting design was to create a distinct physical space despite the dominant LED surface. Plants suspended from the ceiling and other real elements are carefully shaped with light, adding depth to the set. At the same time, the lighting itself becomes part of the show, supporting the transitions between the different situations within the production.
TV key lighting plays a particularly important role. The fixtures required for it should not be visible within the set or in the camera images. Their positions, angles and light paths therefore had to be developed very precisely during planning and visualization. At the same time, people must remain visually separated from the enormous LED surface behind them. The subtle balance of key light, contrast and separation is crucial: the host should not appear to be standing in front of a “wallpaper”, but as a present and integral part of the spatial image.
zactrack adds freedom of movement to this concept. The host can move freely throughout the set, while positions and even spontaneous actions are tracked by the follow system in real time. This eliminates the need for a traditional lighting rehearsal in which individual positions have to be programmed in advance – allowing the host to move much more naturally throughout the show.

Real scenic elements and plants suspended from the ceiling break up the digital surface and connect screen and studio into one coherent set.
LIGHT
The lighting design shapes the space, creates the necessary separation from the LED wall and at the same time becomes a show element in its own right, supporting the different situations and transitions throughout the production.
TV KEYLIGHT
The key light is integrated into the set so that the required fixtures remain invisible in the camera images. At the same time, carefully balanced contrast and separation ensure that people remain visually present in front of the huge LED wall instead of blending into the background.
ZACTRACK
Tracking gives the host freedom of movement. The light follows his position in real time and allows spontaneous movements and reactions without the need to program individual lighting positions in advance.
